MSM Downplays Attack on NY Recruiting Station

An Army recruiting station in New York City was bombed this morning. Here is how Reuters covered this act of domestic terrorism:
Small explosion hits New York’s Times Square
NEW YORK (Reuters) – A small explosion damaged a U.S. military recruiting station but caused no injuries in New York’s Times Square before dawn on Thursday, triggering a Pentagon alert for other stations across the country.
…
Low-grade explosives packed in an ammunition box cracked the recruiting station’s thick glass door and twisted its metal framing, police said. The blast also shattered a window encasing the classic poster of Uncle Sam saying “I Want You.”
…
Police Commissioner Ray Kelly showed reporters a security camera video of the blast and said police were looking into similarities to small explosions at the British and Mexican consulates in 2005 and 2007, also in the early morning hours.
It is not until the bottom of page 2 that we get this:
The bomb was larger than those used in the grenade attacks on the British and Mexican consulates, Kelly said. He said it could have caused injury or even death.
And here is the story from MSNBC:
Police probe cyclist link in Times Square blast
No injuries in pre-dawn attack on military recruiting stationNEW YORK – A small bomb caused minor damage to a landmark military recruiting station in the heart of Times Square before dawn Thursday, and police were searching for a hooded bicyclist seen on a surveillance video pedaling away.
And from Time.com…
Does New York Have a Serial Bomber?
Though the attack resulted in no injuries and minimal damage, it raised unsettling concerns: chiefly, that it could be connected to two prior bombings with similar hallmarks. Last October, a device containing explosive powder was lobbed over the fence at the Mexican consulate, located just a few blocks southeast.
…
The city quickly regained its equilibrium. Streets reopened and subway service was restored. “New York City is back and open for business,” Bloomberg said. Even tourists at the scene — holding cameras aloft and chattering on cell phones — seemed largely unruffled by the incident. “I do feel quite safe still,” says Sandra Bell, a tourist on vacation from Glasgow, Scotland. Still, she says, standing just yards from the spot where she’s often watched the iconic ball descend to herald each New Year, “it’s amazing to think something would happen here.” [ed: Yeah, because nothing bad ever happens in NYC, right?] As uniformed military personnel ducked in and out of the recruiting office, the poster of Uncle Sam maintained his familiar pose — eyes fixed on prospective recruits, index finger outstretched, issuing his trademark beckoning call: “I Want You.” But to Damian Brown, 31, peering at the scene from across the street, the blast conveyed the opposite message. “Time to bring those boys home,” he says quietly.
Fair and balanced.
