Ancient History and the “Dark Ages”

More from the BS factory I like to call “university.”

“The Sphinx was built by slave labor.”

Wrong! While the ancient Egyptians certainly had slaves, those slaves are not who created the monuments of Egypt. Thet were created by skilled craftsmen who were paid and honored to have the job.

“During the ‘Dark Ages,’ intellectuals were persecuted, which prohibited the free flow of ideas during that time.”

I don’t even know what to say to this, except this professor needs to take a Medieval European history course. I could write volumes about what is wrong with that statement.

“Goals of world domination is what drove innovation during the ‘Dark Ages.’”

Evidently, Europeans are unable to be innovative unless it involves conquering the world. Things like redesigning the plow, crop rotation, and Gothic Arches were all invented to help monarchs take over the planet.

Some more BS I learned this week includes:

“If you are a geographically informed person, you are a better person.”

Translation: People who travel are good. People who don’t just suck. Of course, it’s a geography professor who made that claim.

Here is one from Macroeconomics…

“Materialism in America has led to Global Warming.”

Translation: Shame on us. We suck.

It just never ends……
